This kitchen is conceived as a calm, highly crafted living space rather than a purely functional room. Pale timber cabinetry wraps the walls and island, creating generous concealed storage and a warm, continuous backdrop to family life. A long, understated work surface sits beneath a softly lit picture ledge, where framed photographs add a personal, gallery-like layer to the space. The island anchors the room, offering a place for preparation, conversation and informal gathering, while the dining table brings a more relaxed, lived-in quality.
The palette is restrained and tactile: natural wood, hand-finished plaster, polished concrete and dark metal accents.
This calm, tactile living area is quietly contemporary, centred around a sculptural curved chimney breast that softens the room’s architecture. The fireplace is integrated as a low, horizontal element beneath the rounded plaster form, creating a warm focal point within the restrained composition, while large sliding glazing creates an open corner to the courtyard, drawing in greenery and daylight and blurring the boundary between inside and out.
Pale timber joinery wraps around the hearth to provide concealed storage and continuity, while open shelving allows objects, books and artwork to add a personal layer. Natural light, hand-finished plaster, polished concrete, soft textiles and curved joinery combine to create a serene, intimate open-plan living space and kitchen, with architecture, storage and fireplace seamlessly integrated around warmth, simplicity and everyday use.
The timber staircase is conceived as a defining architectural feature and sculptural element within the home, combining warm oak treads with a sweeping plastered balustrade that rises through the space in one continuous gesture. Its softened profile gives the circulation a calm, almost carved quality, gently offset by the precision of the timber detailing and the integrated storage alongside.
Natural light from above washes across the curved plaster surfaces, emphasising their hand-finished texture and casting soft, shifting shadows through the stairwell. The fluid movement of the balustrade draws the eye upward towards the complete roof extension above, where the master suite envelops the top floor. From its south-facing roof terrace, the space opens onto a striking new zinc standing-seam roofscape, giving the upper level a bold and dramatic architectural presence.
The ensuite is designed as a quiet retreat, with the private sauna fully integrated into the bathroom rather than treated as a separate addition. A generous skylight draws daylight into the space, illuminating the soft plaster walls, pale stone-toned surfaces and warm timber detailing.
The bath, vanity and shower are arranged within a calm, minimal composition, where large-format tiles and frameless glass preserve a sense of openness and ease. The result is an understated ensuite that combines everyday function with a spa-like atmosphere, balancing natural materials, soft light and carefully integrated detail.
